12 Dieting Facts
  1. 1. A tendency to overweight is usually inherited. Unfortunately, if you are overweight you have developed poor eating habits and it is easy to pass these onto your children. Are you doing this?

  3. Due to their lifestyle most women have more opportunities to eat than men. This in turn can lead to overeating throughout the day.
  4. Many people feel the need to eat to make up for something lacking in their lives. A fresh interest in life may lessen the craving for food.
  5. Remember, eating habits must be changed if long-term success in weight reduction is to be achieved.
  6. Hunger can still be satisfied in spite of a reduction of calories if bulky fibre rich foods make up a good percentage of your daily diet. An increase in fibre is also far better for your health.
  7. Low-calorie food substitutes for bread, butter, salad dressing and soft drinks may help some people to keep to a diet.
  8. Slimming products and slimming foods, such as meal replacements, are designed to appeal to the desire for an easy way out in weight reduction. Most of these offer no long-term benefit and some can be harmful.
  9. Restricting fluids is no help in slimming and is hazardous to your health.
  10. Children are more likely to diet successfully if the whole family change their eating habits.
  11. For those who have difficulty in keeping to a diet, groups run by hospitals, family doctors, local authorities and slimming organisations can be very useful
  12. Finally, you will lose weight if you persist with your diet and exercise more. It is important to achieve a successful slimming campaign and not to give up at the first hurdle. Would you give up at the first sign of a problem with other things that happen in your life? Apply your approach to the rest of your life and to slimming and you will lose weight.
