Do you remember your mother saying to you about an insect ‘but it must be scared of you, you’re a million times bigger than it!’ Maybe, this helped you take control of your fear and helped you to rise above the situation. Can you relate this to food?
Food entices us even when we are not hungry. This impulse urge to eat is very powerful. Anyone who has given in to a food craving knows that! However, what is beckoning us? It’s the short term pleasure that soon turns sour with guilt. It’s you..................living only for the moment and not thinking about the future. It’s you................giving in to a short lived pleasure.
This pleasure can be like the insect, a tiny thing dictating to you. A mere lump of calories getting the better of you. Is that what you really want? Do you want to be so easily knocked off course? Just make yourself stop for one short second before allowing the impulse to control you. Think how you will feel when you’ve tucked in? You’ll be furious with yourself; you’ll feel weak willed; you will have lived for the moment. If you can just get a picture of yourself in your mind, with the lowered self esteem you will feel if you do give in, you may find it easier to stay in control. Let yourself get the better of those calories that are beckoning!
