Take a look at the following days dieting of one of our members. You will soon see the consequences of picking at food that is not on your eating plan.
Let us follow a day in the life of Suzie Slimmer. She is married to John and has two children, Jamie aged 7 and Sophie aged 3.
Susie gets up at 6.30 and eats her breakfast, before calling her husband John to get up at 7.15. John isn’t the best of risers, so Susie has to call him again and again. Eventually he gets up. Susie has toasted him two slices of bread with marmalade, but being late he only has time to eat on. Rather than waste it Susie eats the other.
Then she calls Jamie to get up for school. Jamie eats his bowl of cereal, but leaves some sugary milk in the bottom of the bowl. Susie drinks it before washing it up. Jamie goes to school.
It is then time to call Sophie, who gets up and has a boiled egg and soldiers. She leaves her egg white so where did they go?
Mid morning Susie opens a packet of biscuits for Sophie. Oh dear, the top two biscuits are broken, Sophie won’t want those will she?
Lunch for both of them is a cheese sandwich. Susie weighs the cheese carefully, but eats the crumbsthey don’t count - do they?
After eating her apple she finished Sophie’s yoghurt.
Her afternoon was taken up by baking some cakes - for the children!! Sampling a handful of raisins. Susie and Sophie lick the bowl and spoon out . She then gives Sophie her sweet ration helping herself to 5 smarties as she goes.
It’s 4.30 and Jamie arrives home from school with an empty lunchbox. Susie feels disappointed.
Cooking fish fingers and chips for the children’s tea. She pinches a couple of chipsfrom each plate. She resists a rock cube - except for a tiny piece Sophie has left on her plate.
John arrives home from work, she has cooked him a lamb chop dinner. Susie has chicken and vegetables.
Susie decides to give John apple pie for his pudding, but it needs some custard. Whilst making it and serving it, Susie scrapes the saucepan and likes the spoon
When clearing away, before she knows it she has popped the crispy fat from Johns lamb chop into her mouth plus the double pie crust from his apple pie.
The children watch television and have a packet of crisps each. Sophie needs her packet opening - yes, you’ve guessed it!!
Later John fancies a snack of beans on toast, using two slices of bread. Susie heats up the beans but finds that there are too many for the toast
At least Susie sits down to write her TRUTH SHEET for the day and have her treat - 2 glasses of wine and the dregs left in the bottle.
This is what Suzie writes;
Breakfast Egg, bacon, grilled tomato - cup of tea
Mid-morning: Cup of tea and a pear
Lunch: Cheese sandwich with 2oz of cheese, apple and a cup of tea.
Mid-afternoon: Cup of tea - grated carrot
Dinner: Roast Chicken, sprouts, car-rots, gravy
Treat: 2 Glasses of dry white wine.
The actual value of Susie’s pickings comes to a staggering 985 calories and she can’t understand why she keeps gaining weight?
