Remember you’re not going to lose that extra weight overnight. It will take time. You’ll need to keep to your eating plan and aim to losing small amounts every week. It’s amazing how quickly half a pounds mount up to half a stone and then a stone.
You have to convince yourself that you must lose weight. You may think you want to be slim and stunning, but invariably it’s your body that lets you down. Often as you sit in the front of the television silently congratulating yourself for having got through another dieting day the cravings start - if only you could have a biscuit or even better a Twix. So - how do you deal with this? We all have willpower; we just don’t think we have. But its taken willpower to decide to start to lose weight, its taken willpower to sign up online- now we have to be able to carry on. If you’ve already lost some weight, give yourself a pat on the back. No matter how small your steps, you’ve already accomplished a great deal.
Try and understand where your weaknesses lie. What foods are your downfalls? When do you start to crave biscuits and chocolates? We often have to change our eating habits when we’re trying to lose weight. If you find the evenings difficult, don’t give yourself time to nibble, take up a new hobby or do some sort of exercise anything that will take your mind of those nibbles. Try cleaning out your wardrobe, after all you won’t need all those baggy clothes will you?
If you fall into temptation when going to the supermarket, then try making a list and sticking to it. Don’t buy foods that aren’t on the list just because you fancy them. Making a list will have two results. Firstly if you do it when you plan your menus and go through your food cupboards you will always have plenty of the ‘right’ type of foods suitable to your weight reduction way of eating secondly if you stick to the list you’ll save money because it will stop you making those impulse buys which not only mount the bill up but almost always mount the calories up! Don’t go to the supermarket hungry, it’s amazing how many biscuits you can eat in the car while you’re driving home.
Try making a list of things. On a scale of one to ten, that require the most willpower. Is it harder to avoid the biscuit aisle at the supermarket or is it more difficult to resist opening the packet in the car or when you arrive home? Perhaps it would be better if you didn’t buy the biscuits in the first place, or try buying a variety that you don’t really like!
