Foot and Toe Exercises

Foot and Toe Exercises

Feet get little opportunity to exercise freely, here are three exercises that should be done barefoot, preferably daily.

  1. Joint stretch:  Stand and take weight on one foot, raise heel of the other foot and bend the toe joints at right angles to the rest of the sole, hold to the count of two, then balance the foot on tip toe to the count of two, return to bent position and finally to floor.  Repeat six times for each foot.
  2. Muscle toner:  Standing on the bottom stair, let toes overhand the edge, then bend them firmly downwards, hold to count of two, pull them strongly upwards, hold to count of two.  Repeat ten times
    .
  3. Foot circles:  Sit or lie with legs stretched out in front, knees braced.  Make wide circles outward, arching the foot.  Do ten times.  Repeat making inward circles.  (Particularly good for strengthening and trimming the ankles, as well as helping to improve the shape of the foot.)
