Holding back the years
Reaching 40 may be a turning point but it need not be a crisis. You’re in your prime! For the 14 million women in the U.K. over 40 the ageing barriers have been broken down. Now you can start a career, take up a new hobby or sport, and with a little know-how, still look wonderful whether your 40, 50, 60 or 70 years old or should we say young! The mature woman has poise and confidence gained through experience and this is what you have to build on. But it takes a little work.
The main areas to work on are as follows.
Diet Be firm with yourself. You can't get away with as many little indulgences as you used to without them showing somewhere. Your body shape changes a little. A balanced diet will give you more energy, the key to feeling and looking younger.
Get Your Diet Right Try to stick to the following guide lines. Eat three well balanced meals a day or five small meals a day. This will increase your metabolism a little. Tuck into plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables either raw, or lightly cooked at every meal. Keep alcohol to a minimum, drink plenty of water. Try to make your last meal of the day as early in the evening as possible so you don't go to bed on a full stomach. In other words do as Super Slim tell you!
Exercise Even if you have never done any before you can start now, as long as you start off steady and always consult your doctor first. Try something like dancing, swimming, and brisk walking is great. Remember you should be a little out of breath when you reach your destination.
Appearance. The magic of makeup works wonders, but remember not to go overboard, too much looks silly. The right hair style also helps. Look through books and consult your hair dresser, he or she will advise you. The style of your clothes is another factor. Go for something a little more modern, look in the shops you wouldn't normally look, there will be something to suit you. Don't try to turn back the clock too far, you don't what to look ridiculous. It's important to change your style as you grow older to adapt to the changes in your figure, complexion and face shape.
Attitude This plays a big part 'you are only as old as you feel' and that is true! Feeling confident ( you will as you lose weight) enthusiastic, and optimistic, will knock years off you, making your age irrelevant.
Tips for keeping you young are:
- Forget your birth date, and be young at heart.
- Never go out without looking your best. You could meet an old friend you haven't seen for ages, you wouldn't want them to think the years had been unkind to you.
- Never say I'm too old to do that. You’re never too old if you really want to do it.
- Think of the benefits of your years, you are wiser, probably more relaxed and much less likely to panic.
