Tactics for Family and Friends
Family and friends can be of great help towars a successful dieting week. If you would like your family or friends to be more supportive then think about adopting the following tactics.
-
Don’t ask anyone to pop upstairs or into the next room to bring you something you want, to save you getting out of the chair. The sum total of lots of little movements throughout the day makes a big difference to your energy output.
-
Don’t apply the above rule if you happen to need something from the kitchen. Here it’s usually safer to send someone else than to risk the temptation of the biscuit tin!
-
Do tell people that you appreciate their thoughtfulness in not flaunting their fish and chips in front of your sensitive nostrils.
-
Don’t hesitate to warn them that choruses of “ I saw you with that cream cake” will make you so mad that you could be tempted to have another, just to “show them”.
-
Do announce that from now on children are expected to clear the table after every meal and scrape unstorable leftovers into the bin. So they don’t go in your mouth!
-
Do get your family to help you through the major hazard of the weekend shopping. For instance, by going into the baker’s for supplies, so that you aren’t tempted to buy any little extras.
-
Do ban biscuits from the house. Take the temptation away, if you are irresistably tempted by them.
-
Do encourage children to leave their bedroom doors open at night. The dread of hearing that voice shouting “Mommy, where are you going?”, is a great deterrent to sneaking down into the kitchen for an extra treat.
