Excuses Excuses !

There was a lady called Elsie who was rather overweight who suddenly one day decided she was going to attend her local SUPER SLIM class.  When she mentioned it to her two friends Ethel and Edith,  they decided they would like to go with her, as they too would like to lose some weight.

They all joined the class at the same time and Elsie, Ethel and Edith started their respective diets.  Elsie and Ethel were doing very well, but Edith did not seem to be losing weight at the same rate as her two friends.

One evening Elsie was visiting Edith's house and Edith's young girl made some comment about Elsie and Edith still being fat.  Edith told her daughter that Elsie had lost a lot of weight and not to be so cheeky!  The child then started questioning her mother about how much weight she, Elsie and Ethel had lost.  It turned out that Elsie had lost some thirty-six pounds, Ethel had lost twenty-six pounds, but Edith had only lost six pounds.  The child looked bemused for a few seconds and then asked why Edith had only lost six pounds when the other two had lost so much more?

Edith replied "Well, Elsie and Ethel go to the Slimming Club every week but I can't always make it!"

Elsie's only reply was,  "IT'S  BEEN A LOVELY SUNNY DAY TODAY, HASN'T IT?!!
