Elbows - Something To Lean On

Elbows - Something To Lean On

Regeneration:  Elbows wrinkle fast because they are leaned on and this hardens and dries the skin.  The gradual loss of the skin's elasticity is also a natural part of the ageing process, which affects elbows as well as the rest of your body.  With a tough spot like elbows, the main objective is to break down the accumulation of thickened cells, so the regenerating lotions can really pour into your skin instead of trickling through the dead cell deposits.  Don't be afraid to scrub elbows with a good stiff brush to remove dead cell deposits before applying lotion.

Friction wash:  If your elbows are discoloured and flaky, give them a friction wash with a loofah or towelling mitt, then rinse, dry and apply a rich lubricating cream.

Double action:  Whenever you use a lotion on your hands rub some into your elbows at the same time.

Elbow saver:  When you are wearing a short-sleeved dress, check that your elbows are smooth.  A rub over the concentrated bath oil, or even oil from the kitchen cupboard, will work wonders, provided you give the oil time to soak in.

Rough treatment:  For any really rough patches of skin, perhaps around your heels or elbows, you can afford to be quite rough in your treatment.  Use sea salt straight on these areas, rubbing it into the skin with something rough in texture, such as a loofah.  A few minutes of this massage treatment (repeated regularly at bath time if required) will be sufficient to flake away the layers of dry skin.  Always rinse off the salt thoroughly as any left will only cause further dryness.  Rinse first with warm water and then cool.
