Guessing Not Weighing

One of the most demoralising things about dieting  is expecting a good weight loss - being weighed - and not losing any weight.  The single most common reason for this is GUESSING. Such a bother and a nuisance to have to weigh half an ounce of fat each day, so what does the dieter do?

Simply uses it reasonably sparingly, saying that  represents her daily fat allowance.  In the initial stages of a diet this can work reasonably well but as the days go by the portions get larger and larger.

If your diet includes a fat allowance it can be a good idea to weigh out the full weeks allowance of 3 and half ounces which removes the guess work.  Of course, this means that if you fry any food  or eat anything with meat fat this (e.g. chops or bacon) reduces this pre-weighed fat allowance, but good advice to members is not to fry anything anyway.

Good advice to members also includes the need to remove as much fat from any meats as is humanly possible, but total removal from bacon for example is very difficult but necessary.

The same applies to cheese, milk and any other foods that you should weigh - DON'T GUESS - CHECK!  This is SO important because you won't know why you've put weight on or stayed the same if you haven't eaten anything any different - BUT you have eaten MORE of the same, therefore, increasing your calorie intake.

Familiarity breeds contempt with dieting, the longer you diet, the more you feel you know, the more cavalier you become in being exact, however, this is exactly the opposite to the requirement for continued weight loss.

The more you have lost, the less you need to lose, the stricter you should be, so you should be becoming more exact in your measuring and weighing the closer that you become to target.
