THE WHYS AND WHEREFORES OF DIETING


This lecture poses many questions, the idea being that you ask your class the questions and discuss with them the answers.

WHY?  WHY DO WE DIET?

Do we diet because of role models?
Do we diet because of media pressure?
Do we diet because our menfolk want us to be slim? 
Do we diet because we haven't got enough energy because our bodies are tired carrying around so much extra weight? 
Do we diet because our clothes don't fit?

WHERE?

Do you get your best friend to weigh you? 
The doctor? The Chemist? The gym? 
Do you weigh yourself? 
At the slimming club?  (Super Slim, of course)

WHAT FOR?

What benefits will you get?
Feeling healthier? 
Looking younger? 
Feeling more confident?
Choosing the clothes you want to wear not the ones that fit your figure?

HOW?

Starving? 
Liquids only? 
Missing breakfast? 
Five mile runs? 
Taking tablets? 
'Special diets'?
Toning tables? 
Normal sensible foods that fit in with your family eating?

IS IT WORTH IT?

Note to the group leaders - direct this question mainly to the successful members and get them to reply how their life has changed for the better.
Those of you that have lost, how do you feel?   More energy, more confidence?
Enjoying going out - social occasions?  Enjoying buying clothes? 
What difference has it made to you and your lifestyle?
Is playing with the children easier? 
Do you look forward to going on holiday more because you won't be embarrassed taking your clothes off?  Personal relationships - no more taking your clothes off in the bathroom!?! 
Are you proud of how you look?
