Baked Pears with Cinnamon and Brown Sugar

Serves 4

  • 4 ripe pears
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2oz low fat spread


Method

Core and peel pears, then slice length wise and brush with lemon juice.  Place on a non stick pan core downwards.  Place the sugar, cinnamon and low fat spread in a small saucepan and gently heat until sugar is dissolved.  Spoon the mixture over the pears.  Bake at 200C/400F/Gas 6 for 20-25 mins.  Spoon further sugar syrup over during the cooking time. 
This recipe could work with apples.  Count just your sugar and extra fat.  Reduce further by using sweetener and less low fat spread!
